Once a DJ always a DJ... the MBH Productions years

Thanks to my friend Eric Spath, I now have some photos from my days as a DJ with the Christian company, MBH Productions. What does MBH stand for? Must Be Heard! We would do all-nighters at roller rinks at places like Wheelies is Withby, The Phoenix in Kitchener, and yes, the Palace in Barrie - at least I think it was called the Palace. Anyway, the events started at midnight and went until 6 am! We did these monthy, then we did weddings, parties, proms, and more. We also did seminars on Christian music and why the need for it in our lives compared to secular music.

This was when I lived in Toronto and went to what was called Churchill Heights Baptist Church - now going by the name of Morningstar Christian Fellowship. Eric and I went to the same church there I grew up there, he attended for a number of years. We met and I got trained to DJ, some of those skills I use now at LIFE 100.3 as a DJ. So without further adieu, here are the photos...

Me DJing at Wheelies in Whitby...

MBH Productions Owner Eric Spath and myself

At Eric's basement in Scarborough with Matthew Gordon, his girlfriend and her friend...

Hanging out with T-Bone at a concert we sponsored at a place in Windsor...

 Me DJing a wedding...

And my favourite memory, DJing a Christian High School's PROM on a cruise boat around Toronto Harbour! What a night! And yes, that's me with LONG hair! I was able to put it into a ponytail then...

So I guess, once a DJ always a DJ. MBH Productions back then to LIFE 100.3 now. Thanks to Eric for the photos, ad the trip down memory lane!

Duggar tragedy

Okay I know this is all over the internet and other media like TV, so here's my response to this. Yes what happened was terrible and I hope the girls involved are okay. What people need to remember is that Josh Duggar was 14 when this happened, a minor himself. How is he now being labelled a child molester? That's like saying someone who used to drink heavily 12 years ago is still a drunk today, or someone who once stole a few things 12 years ago is still a thief, or someone who cheated on a test 12 years ago is still a cheater today. From what I've read, Josh is not that way today - doing what he did 12 years ago. If he was then people would have a right to be upset. Why his parents waited a year to report it didn't help yes, if he was to have been charged it would have been as a minor. I feel for the guy because he is not that teen today. God forgives, it is men who seems to not be able to let things go. The whole thing about the show being pulled just seems like it was an excuse to pull the show. Imagine what a testimony it could have been on the show to deal with this revelation and how the family deals with it.

I guess we'll never know except what they Tweet.

I can't imagine as a dad how I would deal with a similar situation, but as they have already testified, it made them draw closer to God than ever before as they walked the dark journey together. Pray for them at this time as there seems to be a witch hunt out for any Christian based show.

Summer closing in fast!

Yes, summer is closing in fast! We're on the May long weekend celebrating Victoria Day. If you don't know what Victoria Day is about, check this out...

So yes we take time to honour a past monarch for the British Commonwealth which still includes Canada even though we're our own country. Victoria Day is known as the unofficial start to summer. We celebrate the day which is great, do we take as much time to celebrate God? In my on life I will admit there have been times where God has been on the back burner replaced by something else like a great camping trip or movie release. It's fine to celebrate the day, but we need to keep things in perspective.

That said, I will take some time to rest this weekend, do some cleaning, some gardening, see some friends, etc... But I will make sure the business doesn't replace God.

Have a great holiday weekend!

One day...

One day...

God will set things right. Sin will be no more, temptation will be gone, fighting, wars, sickness, death will all be gone.

One day...

The Lion will lie down with the lamb, children and snakes, dogs and cats...

One day, I will have a smarter head on my shoulders than I do now. One day peace will reign supreme. One day, Christian won't have to "hide" their faith because the law says you can't share it or risk being fired. One day we will see Jesus face to face! I can't wait for that day!

One day...

Toronto Raptors Toronto's only winning franchise?

It's official... the Toronto Raptors are Toronto's only winning franchise right now. They start the playoffs and look good going in! What about the Leafs? Well... we won't go there...

The Argos? Likewise. The TFC? Ditto. Jays? time will tell... The Raptors were strong from the start of the season and kept it that way! I'm behind these guys! The only Canadian team in the NBA! Go Raps!

Hopefully next year with cleaning house in the management level the Leafs can do something right!

Now I do want to say, I'm not a flip flop fan, look at how much I still love the Leafs despite this past year! Any Toronto team I have been a fan of, and I support them.

Game on! The red and black is nice, I miss the former purple too, but oh well, not a big deal.

SuperBLOG!

Okay, no secret, I'm a fan of the superhero genre - comics, games, movies. I have my favourites like Superman, Batman, Hulk, Zauriel, and more...

Now here's the thing... these are great relaxers, but no substitute for God and the bible. One day we will as believers have bodies that these superheroes will be jealous of! Look at Jesus' body which is what we will be modeled after: Ability to fly (in Revelation this is implied too as to the height of the walls in New Jerusalem), walk through walls, never get sick, never die, and who knows what else? It's exciting stuff!

Comics are cool, but God is way cooler! There are Christian based comics too like the 20th anniversary of Archangels the comic series this May from Patrick Scott...

So is it okay to be a comics guy and a Christian? Yes... as long as you don't let it consume you. Let GOD be the consuming fire in our lives!

Easter is here!

Yes, Easter is here, and here is something I put together a couple of years ago, still hard hitting. The music is from the soundtrack of music inspired from the Passion of the Christ movie, the song New Again by Brad Paisley and Sarah Evans. The scenes are from The Nativity Story, The Passion of the Christ, and the Gospel of John movies

Enjoy, and Happy Easter!
